At the heart of our path as dharma practitioners is the wish for all beings to realize natural enlightenment, and it is for this reason that we ourselves aspire to awaken. In order to cultivate and strengthen this attitude, we meditate on wishing all beings without preference or exception happiness and its causes, freedom from suffering, and rejoice in their current virtues. Meditating formally in this way is known as the practice of the Four Immeasurables and is a core method for cultivating Bodhicitta or the “mind of enlightenment”. This is an essential motivation for the path and as well can be a source of boundless courage and well-being. This weekend we will together practice the Four Immeasurables. It is suitable for all who have had a basic introduction to meditation and will include instruction, practice, and talks. It will be presented by Loden Nyima of the Shambhala Monastic Order.
