Cheerful Shambhala Day and welcome to our new Center Director!
We’d like to send a big THANK YOU to everyone that attended our recent Shambhala Day celebration. In case you missed it, Shambhala Day falls on the Tibetan New Year, and as customary, we gathered with our honored guests Acharya Moh Hardin and Sangyum Cynde Grieve, who helped us bring in the new year by celebrating and watching the annual talk by the Sakyong.
This year we had additional treats – Ms. Heather Wenrich took her oath as our new Director! Also officially joining the council were Dena Lackey, Communications Director, and Kevin Moore, Finance Director. We were sad to say goodbye to our previous director, Palmer McLean, and we wish her luck in Austin.
Additionally, retiring from the council was our beloved Doria Cross, who stepped down as the Representative of Culture and Decorum. However, fear not; for she will continue to teach classes here, hopefully for eons to come.
We look forward to seeing you at a program or an open sitting soon!
I am a Canadian who has attached to Buddhism through attendance at retreats in London, England, and Vermont.USA. My two female cousins and I are interested in attending your program between September 9 to 27th.I will turn 76 on the a7th. I am also an ikebana teacher, Sogetsu school, and wonder if Doria Cross might be giving a class or two at that time.Are you assosciated with any reasonably priced hotels in appropriate locations?
