    You are invited!

Shambhala New Year of the Earth Dog is nearly upon us – a time when we will gather together to enjoy traditions of our warrior culture, receive direction and teachings from the Sakyong and celebrate the beginning of a new year as a global community. This year, Shambhala Day is Friday, February 16, 2018, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, when we will celebrate and practice as a community. The evening will include a blessing lhasang, short sadhana practice, an address from Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and an oath ceremony for our incoming and outgoing Center Directors. Then we will enjoy a potluck meal and toast the new year together, so please bring your favorite dish or beverage to share! Children and families are very welcome!

Traditional Fundraising - the practice of generosity

This coming year is the Earth Dog Year. In the animal zodiac, dog year individuals are the most humanitarian, are selfless givers, and strive for justice and equality. They are fiercely loyal, decent, and courageous and are also magnanimous and prosperous. With the added element of earth, the energy of the dog is efficient, grounded, and vigilant.

We can all aspire to bring the generosity and stability of the Earth Dog Year into our lives and local communities this coming year and to further the critical work of Shambhala to transform fear and aggression into wisdom and compassion. The world has never needed it more.

We are requested to do our fundraising in these weeks leading up to Shambhala Day. Please, make your generous contributions to support the center here:  Shambhala Day Donations  Be sure to make a note that your donation is for Shambhala Day! Please, direct any questions to our Finance Director Paul Mulhern, [email protected]

With much appreciation for your generosity.
