Who was the Buddha? What are the fundamental teachings of Buddhism and how are they relevant in today’s society? What’s the point in finding a community to practice with — what does it look like?

This course will explore these questions and what it means to take refuge in the three jewels and become a Buddhist. It is also open to anyone curious and interested in exploring the topic of refuge and not necessarily looking to make a formal commitment.

The class is a mix of formal study, readings, contemplations, and meditation practice. There are no prerequisites or required texts to purchase. Come as you are!

Philip Castillo is a Shambhala Educator, previous Center Director, father, and meditator of 15 years.

Please pre-register online, so that we will know if there are sufficient participants to hold the program and may plan snacks and material accordingly.
