Just in time for holiday giving – With expert guidance everyone can learn to make a mala.  A mala is a string of beads used as a traditional Buddhist tool to aid prayer and meditation.  Teens and pre-teens who can maintain focus are also invited.

A mala is a string of beads used as a traditional Buddhist tool to aid prayer and meditation.  Malas are used in the practice of mantras, both helping to focus the mind and to keep track of the number of repetitions. A mala also builds up power with repeated use and becomes an intensely personal sacred object.

You will learn a little about malas and how to use them and we will "load them up" with the mantra of Avalokiteshvara.

There are no prerequisites for this class – you don’t even have to be a ‘crafts person’ – still, you will be able to make your own unique mala! You can make as many malas as you can for the price of the class. All materials will be provided; beads, strings, tassels, and some charms.  If you want to bring your own beads, please do.

If you have a mala that needs repair, please bring it.

This popular class has filled every time!  So – please register online. Payment will reserve your place.  Enrollment is limited to 12 people.

Please bring a brown bag lunch.
