The Sadhana of Mahamudra is primarily a group practice, practiced by students of all levels of experience at Shambhala Centers on the new moon days.  This Sadhana was discovered as terma by the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1968 while on retreat in Bhutan.

This sadhana combines the Kagyü mahamudra tradition of Karma Pakshi with the Nyingma ati tradition of Dorje Trolo.  This is a unique upaya ("skillful means") that speaks directly to overcoming the three lords of materialism of our current age.

As Chögyam Trungpa says in the article, "Joining Energy and Space":

"The lineage of The Sadhana of Mahamudra is the two traditions of immense crazy wisdom and immense dedication and devotion put together. The Kagyü, or mahamudra tradition, is the devotion lineage. The Nyingma, or ati tradition, is the lineage of crazy wisdom. The sadhana brings these two traditions together as a prototype of how emotion and wisdom, energy and space, can work together."

You are invited to bring your mala, if you have one.
