It was on the night of Halloween,
As I lay in my bed.
The strangest sight I’ve ever seen,
Came drifting overhead.
Alone in the darkness of my room,
I lay with bated breath.
A witch was riding on her broom,
Who near frightened me to death
A ghostly figure cloaked in red,
Her hands were skin and bone
And much to my surprise she said,
“Your heart is made of stone”
“You live in a world of luxury
And do not share with others,
You have not the slightest sympathy,
For your sisters and your brothers.”
“I suppose you think it’s really fair
That children should live on the street,
And spend their lives in sheer despair,
Without much food to eat.”
“The answer to those childrens’ prayers
Is persons just like you,
And if such people really care,
Their dreams may still come true.”
Then I awoke from sleep to find,
That witch just wasn’t there,
But her words still linger in my mind,
And I know now I must care.
this is one of my favorites so far, it has given me goosebumps!
